A brief introduction
Hello, my name is Ore Akinfemiwa. I am a recent graduate from Queen Mary University, London, with a bachelor’s degree in History and Politics, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s Conversion in Law as part of my post-graduate study.
I am an aspiring solicitor with an intention to focus on Property Law. My interest in Property Law stems from my passion for understanding the complexities of real estate transactions and property rights, and how they impact both individuals and businesses. I am committed to helping clients navigate these legal intricacies to achieve their goals, whether they are buying their first home or managing commercial property investments.
Outside of academia, my interests include cooking, travelling, photography, and debating. I often host debate evenings with like-minded young adults to discuss self-help and the socio-political climate of the world.
Having attended six different schools, I am well-acquainted with the processes of sitting entrance exams, settling into new environments, and finding spaces tailored to individual interests—be they academic, extra-curricular, or pastoral. I believe that each person can thrive in the right environment, which may differ from one individual to another, even among siblings. Feel free to inquire about any school or challenge, as I am well-versed in these areas.
What was the biggest challenge you faced adapting to boarding school?: Upon relocating to the UK in primary school, I quickly realised that micro-aggressions and a lack of cultural representation were challenges I would continue to face unless I took proactive steps. My early school years were often isolating and to prevent other African girls from sharing similar sentiments, I was committed to establishing a legacy for celebrating minority cultures at each of the three secondary schools I attended. At my most recent alma mater, Charterhouse, I founded the Unity Society in 2020. This society continues to meet weekly to discuss discrimination, celebrate different cultures and provide career advice specifically targeted towards BAME students.
